Why does my rough green snake have brown spots where scales should be?
Hi. i have a rough green snake and i didn’t really notice anything when i got him, but when i got him home i saw these brown spots on his belly it looks like he is missing scales in those spots but they are kind of deep and doesn’t seem to be any scale on those areas. im not sure what it could be..if anyone has any ideas that would be great.
I’d get him to a good reptile vet. I’m guessing if it looks like he’s missing scales that he either injured himself somehow and ripped off or damaged his scales and the brown spots are scabs or he’s got some sort of scale rot. If it’s the former the vet can give you some antibiotic cream to put on him so it doesn’t get infected. If it’s the latter, he already has an infection and he needs antibiotics. Or maybe he burned himself on something. Can he get to any heat source that’s hot enough to hurt him? Either way definately get him to a good vet that knows what he/she is doing.
